In the fourth session of Looking Closer, participants will continue developing their portrait films through a focus on perspective, representation and authorship. How do our choices as filmmakers shape the way someone, somewhere or something is seen? And what happens when we question the position from which we are looking?
Through practical exercises, discussion and feedback on the participants’ developing films, we will explore different ways of approaching a portrait — from observation and personal perspective to more experimental and poetic forms. The session will create space to reflect on what has been filmed so far, what remains unseen, and how the material can be shaped into a more personal cinematic language.
Participants will have the opportunity to share work-in-progress and receive feedback as they move towards completing their short portrait films.
Session 4: Editing the Portrait

Materials.
